Interchangeable Burger Joints

Random thoughts I experience at McDonald's:
  1. This is really not a great burger.
  2. No wonder I hardly ever come to this place.
  3. Eating a meal here is a little depressing - ironically.
  4. This is actually not significantly worse than most of the "gourmet" burger joints in the area.
  5. OK NOW I'm depressed.

Quick Eats in Geneva

Parfums de Beyrouth

Many shawerma aficionados in Geneva consider Parfums de Beyrouth, located in Paquis, the destination of choice for a shaved lamb or chicken sandwich. A selection of toppings include lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickled radishes, garlic sauce and tahini (a sesame paste).

Wasabi

A couple of Japanese fast food joints have recently opened their doors in Geneva. One of these is Wasabi, located by Rive. Boxes of sushi, seaweed salad, potato salad, noodles, rice, chicken teriyaki, dumplings and many other items are available at this self-serivce style restaurant.

Wasabi is certainly a suitable chocie for a quick meal, but don't kid yourself, it's definitely fast food.

Road Runner's

Many a Genevan believes Road Runner's makes the best burgers in the city. This seems to be especially true in the expat community. I feel it depends what you're comparing it with, given my strong distaste for fast food chains, I think the Chêne-Bourg located burger joint certainly provides an excellent alternative to those. However, if you're comparing it with some other restaurants, my preference may not necessarily go to Road Runner's. However, to their credit, they do seem to understand that a cheeseburger calls for a type of cheese other than gruyère.

Burger King

Planning a trip? Want to grab a "quick" meal before you board your flight? Well in case you missed it, Burger King is back in business in Geneva, and can now be found it the airport's food court along with Starbucks and Upper crust among others.

I am personally not a fan of fast food chains and after sampling some of their food, I suddenly remembered why, but to each their own, I guess...
