Luigia

Does Luigia still need an introduction? If you live in Geneva, enjoy Italian food and going out for a meal every now and then, you're probably familiar with Luigia and its delicious pizzas. But the restaurant also knows how to whip up a pasta dish, and with new additions to the menu on a regular basis, it's certainly worth giving Luigia a third (or is it a fourth?) mention on this blog.

Shibata

Shibata is a Japanese restaurant located in Petit-Saconnex. With only a few tables inside and a small terrace outside in the summer, it would be easy to miss the restaurant while driving by. However, what this establishment lacks in size, it more than makes up for in quality. Indeed, I wholeheartedly believe the best chicken teriyaki in the city is served at Shibata. However, if you're hoping for sushi, this is definitely not the place to go -- it is simply not on their menu.

The restaurant is slightly on the expensive side, but the exquisite dishes and the fresh ingredients make it worth the extra cost in my humble opinion.

Pictured below: dumplings, seared tuna and chicken teriyaki with sides of mixed vegetables and rice, a cheesecake which is somehow as delicious as it is light and finally scoops of red bean and sesame ice cream.

Point du Jour

There is nothing quite like the simple pleasures life affords us, playing with your beloved pet, spending a rainy day curled up at home watching a sitcom on DVD, spending an evening chatting and laughing with a dear friend, or enjoying a meal in good company at a favorite neighborhood restaurant. It seems to me that wherever I go, whatever new places I discover, my favorites seldom change, and I often find myself longing to go back to Point du Jour -- and a couple of other places -- for a hearty meal and a warm welcome from the friendly staff.

Pictured below: a goat cheese salad, a scrumptious dish of spaghetti pesto and a veal schnitzel (which came with a side of pasta with marinara -- not pictured).

Point du Jour

I never tire of going to Point du Jour, the food is wonderful, the staff is friendly and there is a lot to choose from.

Pictured below: a squid salad starter followed by a plate of spinach and ricotta tortelloni. At point du jour, most pasta dishes are served in pots, and you can then serve as much -- or as little -- as you want into your dish.

Café du Soleil

Café du soleil is one of the better known restaurants in Geneva. Located in the heart of the Petit-Saconnex neighborhood, the restaurant is ALWAYS full, and if you're planning a meal there, I strongly recommend you make a reservation. According to Café du Soleil's Website, the establishment may well be Geneva's oldest restaurant and naturally -- as many of you know -- it specializes in Fondue. The menu offers various salads, omelets and steak dishes, but it is safe to say most people go there to enjoy a pot of melted cheese!

Burgers at the Intercon

So when you're grabbing a quick bite at a hotel, it's often either a burger or a club sandwich. On one such recent occasion, I had a cheeseburger at the Intercontinental in Geneva. An overall enjoyable experience but next time I would definitely hold the tomato sauce. Ketchup works in a burger, tomato sauce, not so much!

Point du Jour

Like I've said before, Point du Jour is one of my favorite restaurants in Geneva. Definitely in my top three, and probably the restaurant I've visited the most over the years. They are probably best known for the delectable fresh pastas but they also make several other equally delicious dishes.

Pictured below, a fresh green salad, piccata with vegetables (even a simple side of sauteed vegetables is a delight for the palate at Point du Jour's) and mushroom risotto.

China Garden

Over the years, I have found it challenging to find a decent Chinese restaurant in Geneva, but China Garden is definitely one of my favorites. Located in Petit-Saconnex near the Intercontinental hotel and the international organizations neighborhood, it is a must-try for Chinese food aficionados. It is reasonably-priced and the food is excellent. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Pictured below are some of the starters from their menu including nems, an imperial roll and a spring roll, my preference definitely goes to the two latter. These are followed by their shrimp fried rice, an excellent side dish, their delectable kung po shrimp, be sure not to miss it, and finally a shrimp and broccoli dish I quite like.

Point du Jour

Point du Jour is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Geneva. It is located in Petit-Saconnex and residents of the neighborhood are probably all familiar with its delectable dishes. Point du Jour probably makes some of Geneva's most delectable fresh pasta dishes, they also specialize in risotto, piccata and various other culinary gems.

A meal at Point du Jour is always a memorable experience -- it simply never disappoints! I highly recommend the pasta, but the other night I had their salad, one of my favorites in Geneva, the home made dressing is simply exquisite.

I apologize for the poor quality of the photo -- it was taken with my cell phone at night on the terrace, it certainly doesn't do this salad justice.

Hopefully more photos from Point du Jour to follow shortly -- stay tuned!
