Café Papon on a Warm Summer Night

One of the great joys of living in Geneva is enjoying one of its many terraces in the summer. As far as I'm concerned, the experience is all the more enjoyable if the terrace in question happens to be in the Old Town. That is probably why on a recent summer night, we decided to have dinner at Café Papon, a French restaurant located right at the top of Old Town, opposite the city's longest bench.

Café Papon's tasty French cuisine, its beautiful terrace and its ideal location make it a great choice for a summer meal but it is probably best to reserve before going.

Panna Cotta - Chez Nina

Panna Cotta is a scrumptious Italian dessert, it is both light and creamy, somehow even more so at Chez Nina's. The raspberry coulis and the fresh vanilla give it incredible flavor.

Fondue at Vieux-Carouge

Located in the heart of Carouge, Au Vieux-Carouge is one of Geneva's most popular destinations for fondue. The moitié-moitié (equal parts vacherin and gruyère) provides a creamy, mild-tasting alternative to the all-gruyere fondue.

Sushi at Kamomé

Burgers - Swissotel

When grabbing a quick bite at a hotel, two of the more popular choices tend to be burgers and club sandwiches. A recent visit to the Swissotel located opposite the lake on the left bank was the perfect opportunity to sample their burgers, which contained a selection of tasty and fresh ingredients.

Gondolière

Located in a small passage in Rue du Rhône, Gondolière is a popular hangout for a quick bite as it serves food non-stop throughout the day until the early hours of the evening.

Burgers - Le Richemond

The GVA foodie's quest for the perfect Genevan burger continues with a visit to the Richemond hotel conveniently located by the lake. Overall, the burger is quite good and so is the service. Note: The burger and its toppings are served separately, so if you want some lettuce, pickles, a couple of slices of tomatoes and onions on your burger, be sure to look around your plate before starting your meal!

Emilios

At this point, there is really only one Greek restaurant in Geneva. In the past there were a couple of others, but they seem to have fallen by the wayside. However, Emilios seems to have done rather well for itself. Located in the lively neighborhood of Plainpalais, the restaurant serves a number of popular Greek dishes including Moussaka, gyros, various Greek salads and starters and of course baklava.

Pompei

For the most part, Champel is a quiet, residential neighborhood. But it is also home to a number of restaurants, including Pompei, a busy pizzeria. The restaurant's staff are known for their friendly, warm welcome and their signature pizza.
